Severe lack of investments among other issues for solar programmes: SLSEA

By PRANAVESH SIVAKUMAR

Sri Lanka is stuck with a severe lack of investments, including attracting foreign investments, difficulty in obtaining loans from local and global banks when pursuing solar programmes, Director General of Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA) Harsha Wickramasinghe told the Daily Mirror.

He revealed apart from financing, there are serious land use conflicts in the country.

“One cannot compare the Rajasthan Solar Programme in India with that of Sri Lanka. They have patches of land bigger than Sri Lanka for solar and here, everywhere we go, we have people.

Main constraint is, lack of investment capital and lending capacity of local and global banks, he added.
