A recent survey has revealed that more than 28 percent of school children from the North Central Province are malnourished. The President of The Ceylon Teachers Association Priyantha Fernando told the media yesterday in Anuradhapura that it has been revealed that 20 percent of children in the country are suffering from malnutrition and that the situation in the NCP is worst. The report issued in 2025 revealed that school children in Dimbulagala and Kebithigollewa areas were the worst affected. “ A nutrition programme for schoolchildren which had been implemented in 2023 had allocated Rs.110 per child. This allocation has not been increased to meet the price hike of consumer goods. The allocation per meal should be increased at least to Rs. 190.The government is yet to implement an effective plan” He further said.
