The SLFP would present revisions to the 20th Amendment to the Constitution at the committee stage in Parliament to make it more results oriented and meaningful as various organisations, groups and individuals have expressed views for and against the 20A, SLFP spokesman and former Deputy Minister Weerakumara Dissanayaka said yesterday. Any other forums, organisations or persons are also free to forward amendments to the 20A that has been tabled in Parliament, he added. Mr. Dissanayaka told the media at the party office that the SLFP would take a decision on how to support the 20A in Parliament after further studying the proposed amendments and reviewing the expert committee report appointed by the party.
Responding to the Daily Mirror, Mr. Dissanayaka said it was still premature to say whether the SLFP would vote for or against the 20A, as it has to go a long way to put it for a vote in Parliament after the final debate.
