Sri Lanka Police have appointed a four-member committee to study the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday bomb attacks, which spans approximately 66,000 to 67,000 pages, police said.

The final report and all accompanying volumes of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday attacks were formally submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on April 20 under the direct instructions of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Police Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga said that the Sri Lanka Police have received the full report and have appointed a four-member committee, led by Senior DIG Asanka Karawita, to review its contents.

The committee also includes the DIG of the CID, the Director of the CID, and the Director of the Terrorist Investigation Division.

SSP Manathunga said that several subcommittees will also be appointed to thoroughly examine the findings.

He said that new investigations will be launched based on any emerging facts from the report.

The spokesman said that legal action will be taken against those found responsible, based on the Commission’s findings.
