Opposition to bring no faith motion against Deputy Minister Anura Jayasekera

Opposition party leaders are to bring in a no confidence motion against Deputy Minister of Defence Aruna Jayasekera, an opposition MP who did not wish to be named told Daily Mirror yesterday.   

He said the opposition party leaders will meet today at the opposition leader’s office to make the final decision on the matter.

The Deputy Minister was accused of maintaining deafening silence on Zaharan’s activities during the time he was the Eastern commander. Also the Catholic Church has called for the resignation of the Minister to ensure a proper probe on Easter Sunday attacks.   

The party leaders in the opposition are also expected to discuss on the action to be taken against the government for its failure to bring in a new constitution as promised.
