Amidst uncertainty over Treasury Funds after the missing of USD 2.5 million, Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha said yesterday there is no threat to funds received by the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund” established to provide relief to communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.

The Minister said “Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund” has received RS. 9,583 million as at April 24, 2026 and that the fund is safe.  He said certain people had raised doubts whether the fund has been utilised and said that Rs. 500 billion allocated from the budget for Ditwah rebuilding has not been completely used as yet, adding that funds of the “Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund” will also be utilised as required.

“We will give detailed information on the ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund’ after the financial year,” he said.

The Minister said opposition politicians are spreading false information with narrow political ends to mislead the people on USD 2.5 million and pointed out that an investigation is underway into the incident, and people will be updated on the progress of the investigation as the investigation progresses.
