Major drug bust in Tangalle following mysterious deaths of three men




A massive haul of narcotics weighing over 600 kilograms, along with six firearms including a T-56 assault rifle, were discovered in the Seenimodara area of Tangalle during a special police operation launched following the mysterious deaths of three men yesterday.

According to the Tangalle  Police, two bodies were initially found inside an abandoned house that was under renovation. A third man, believed to have been staying at the same house, reportedly fell seriously ill after returning there and later died while receiving treatment at a hospital. 

Following these suspicious deaths, police launched an extensive search operation in the surrounding area.

A small lorry parked near the house was taken into custody, and police discovered 10 packets of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as “Ice”) inside. A second lorry, also found near the house, contained a hidden compartment in the chassis area where a large quantity of powder suspected to be heroin was found.

Police later raided a garage in the Kadurupokuna area of Tangalle, where a third lorry was found. Inside this vehicle, hidden among crates of pineapples in a specially constructed compartment, officers found, 86 packets of crystal meth (“Ice”), 100 packets of heroin, 5 modern revolvers, 1 T-56 assault rifle.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Narcotics Bureau have been called in to assist with the probe.
