MP Archchuna takes alleged coal fraud to IMF

MP Ramanathan Archchuna had requested the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to intervene in eradicating corruption in Sri Lanka.   

Mr. Archchuna confirmed that he had referred to corruption in Sri Lanka and elaborated on the coal purchase scam and on the release of more than 300 containers without following clearance procedures.   

The MP raised these issues when a group of opposition MPs including him met the IMF delegation recently.   

MP Ramanathan Archchuna had stressed that the IMF should take up corruption with the Sri Lankan government. Accordingly, the MPs and they discussed the coal purchase scam and the scam pertaining to 323 containers which had been cleared without following clearance procedures.   

The IMF delegation was led by IMF Mission Chief for Sri Lanka Evan Papageogiou while other opposition MPs including Ravi Karunanayake and Dilith Jayaweera also participated in the discussion.
