Ven. Thera would have been charged by a leopard. The 45-year-old Ven. Nanda Thera had been practicing meditation in a rock cave in Bambaragasthalawa archaeological site.
Ven. Thera had gone missing from the cave and his fellow monks who looked for him had found the body in the forest. During investigations the police and the wildlife officers had noticed the footsteps of a leopard at the scene. They said the Ven.Thera had received serious injuries in his neck and the chest.
Meanwhile Secretary of the Wildlife Conservation Collective, Environmentalist Nayanka Ranwella said he repeatedly warned the Buddhist monks regarding the danger of living in the national park with wild animals.
Panama Police and the wildlife officials conducted investigations.
