A hill country leopard caught in a wire trap and on the verge of death was rescued yesterday from a tea estate in Lindula in Talawakele, by the wildlife officials.

Estate workers who noticed the leopard in danger had informed the wildlife officials.  A senior wildlife official said the leopard had been caught in the wire trap laid by a poacher. He said the well-grown leopard had been injured, and steps would be taken to provide treatment to save its life.
