Indian Vice President visits Nuwara Eliya



Inspects housing scheme funded by Indian government

Visiting Indian Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan yesterday attended religious observances at Seetha Amman Kovil in Nuwara Eliya and met the estate sector people.   

He was received on his arrival in Nuwara Eliya by Deputy Minister of Education Madhura Seneviratne and Deputy Minister of Estate Infrastructure Facilities Sundaralingam Pradeep. The Indian Vice President inspected the housing scheme in Liddesdale Estate, funded by the Indian government and met the estate workers.    Later, he turned up at the Seetha Amman Kovil, where he was received by the Chairman of the Kovil Trust and Parliamentarian V.Radhakrishnan. He attended a Pooja and received the blessings.   

Indian High Commissioner Gopal Bagley, District Parliamentarians Manjula Suraweera Arachchi and Krishnan Kalaichelvi were present at the occasion.   

Later, the Indian delegation was flown to Colombo by the Indian Air Force.
