In Remembrance of Eng. Russel De Zilwa

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers Sri Lanka Group (IMechE Sri Lanka Group) will hold a Remembrance Lecture in honour of the late Eng. Russel De Zilwa on Monday, 11th May 2026 at 5.30 p.m. at the Wimalasurendra Auditorium, Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL).Eng. Russel De Zilwa was a highly respected engineer, mentor, and educator who made an outstanding contribution to Sri Lanka’s engineering fraternity over several decades. A past student of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia and graduate of the University of Peradeniya, he held senior positions at several leading organizations including Unilever Ltd. and Engineering Consultants Ltd.He was also deeply committed to engineering education, serving as a visiting lecturer at the University of Moratuwa, KDU, SLIIT, and the IESL College of Engineering.Eng. De Zilwa rendered invaluable voluntary service to both the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Sri Lanka Group, serving in several key leadership roles including Executive Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Chair, and Advisory Committee Member.He will always be remembered for his professionalism, humility, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the engineering community. The IMechE Sri Lanka Group warmly invites members of the engineering fraternity and well-wishers to attend this remembrance lecture and pay tribute to his remarkable legacy.
