“If you wound a snake and don’t kill it, it will strike back” - FLSP comments on Ranil’s arrest

Referring to the arrest and remanding of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Frontline Socialist Party (FLSP) said, “If you wound a snake and don’t kill it, it will strike back.”

Its politburo member Duminda Nagamuwa said the government had defied pressure even from certain sections of the diplomatic community and pressed ahead with action against Wickremesinghe.

Commending the government over it, he said his party would support the government in furthering action against Wickremesinghe.

“Ranil Wickremesinghe is a dangerous person. His past is tainted with allegations such as operating the Batalanda torture house,” Nagamuwa said.

“We are aware that there was a conspiracy to prevent the arrest of Wickremesinghe. Accordingly, we have been told that some foreign missions in Sri Lanka has influenced the government against the arrest of the former President,” he also said.
