Govt appeals expatriate Doctors to return and serve Sri Lanka, promises full support

Health and Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa has publicly called upon Sri Lankan specialist doctors living abroad to return to their motherland and contribute their expertise. 

The appeal was made during the inauguration of multiple development projects worth over Rs. 170 million at the Matale District General Hospital yesterday(07).

The Minister assured that the government would provide all necessary facilities and support to repatriated medical professionals, emphasizing a commitment to creating a conducive working environment for them.

“We need the skills and knowledge of our (Sri Lankan) overseas-based specialists to strengthen our health system. The government is ready to offer every required facility to those who heed this call to serve the nation,” Dr. Jayatissa stated.
