The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has raised concerns over individuals impersonating its officers, following the arrest of a man in Polonnaruwa.

The suspect, a Group GPS Monitoring Manager of a private company in Polonnaruwa, was arrested by the bribery officials after confidential information alerted them to his activities.

He is accused of preparing a fake identity card identical to an official CIABOC ID and using it to pose as a Commission officer, allegedly attempting to influence government officials in performing their duties.

The suspect was to be produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court.

The Commission has urged the public to report any individuals falsely presenting Commission identity cards or impersonating its officers by calling the hotline 1954.
