Battling the downpour...

A father rides his school-going child home on a motorcycle amid heavy rains that lashed Colombo yesterday. A persistent low-pressure area northeast of the island has brought cloudy skies and widespread showers across several provinces, with the Department of Meteorology warning of heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm in parts of the island.
