Wildlife officials said two hill country leopards met with accidents had been found yesterday from estates in Agarapathana area. They said one had died and the other received serious injuries.
One of them had died in a wire trap laid by poachers in shrub jungle bordering a tea estate and the other had fallen into a pit in a quarry and received injuries. Officials said the one that died was about an year old cub and that the other a well grown leopard about four years of age. Veterinary Surgeon In Charge of Randenigala Wildlife Management Unit said the injured leopard would be provided treatment to save its life.
