16th National Lotus Flower Ceremony tomorrow at Samadhi Buddha Statue

The Siseth Foundation will offer 200,000 lotus flowers to the Samadhi Buddha Statue today (May 9) to mark the 16th National Lotus Flower Ceremony.

The event, themed around universal humanity, aims to promote spiritual development and national peace among thousands of devotees gathered in the historic sacred city.

Organized by the Siseth Foundation under the theme “Ending Conflicts, For Universal Humanity,” the event features an offering of 200,000 lotus flowers.

The tradition originated from aspirations formed in 2008 at the Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanweli Maha Seya, formally launching on May 23, 2010, at Mihintale’s Ambasthala Seya. Guided by the vision to “awaken minds and build a righteous world,” the program includes a Kapruka Pooja for the Abhayagiri Chaitya, a midday almsgiving for 100 monks, tree planting, Abhayadana, Dhamma sermons, and lamp illuminations.

The ceremony is held under the patronage of Ven. Dr. Pallegama Hemarathana Nayaka Thera (Atamasthana Chief Prelate), Ven. Ethalwetunuwewe Nayaka Thera (Ruwanweli Maha Seya), and Ven. Kallanchiye Rathanasiri Nayaka Thera (Abhayagiri Viharaya).

It is conducted under the counsel of Pandit Ven. Muwa Atagama Gnanananda Thero of the University of Peradeniya. The Siseth Foundation invites all devotees to participate by bringing a lotus flower to this national meritorious act. For further inquiries call 0713899855, 0710149240
