Residents of Wanarajah Summerville Estate in Hatton are living in constant fear
due to repeated visits by leopards which poses a serious threat to their safety, with at least 13 pet dogs already fallen prey over the past several days.
Villagers expressed deep concern over the danger posed to their children, livestock, and household pets, noting that the situation has worsened due to poor visibility at night. They said that street lights in the area have been out of order, leaving the community vulnerable after dusk.
Estate workers also pointed to CCTV footage which shows a leopard entering the premises of a house and carrying away a pet dog, highlighting the growing boldness.
Residents are now urging authorities to take immediate action to ensure their safety and prevent further incidents.
