VINCO ’23 - JOSEPHIAN COMMERCE DAY

Vinco’23, the Commerce Day of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10, organized by the Commerce Union, was recently held at the Bonjean Memorial Hall.
Highlights of the event included a presentation on Globalisation, a Theme song, a Drama performance, the Patron and Rector, presentation videos, entertainment, and the quiz competition award ceremony.
 “Globalization is all about describing how trade and technology have made the world into a more connected and interdependent place. It also captures in its scope the economic and social changes that have come about as a result” said Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, Patron and Rector, in his message at the event.


In order to excel in the global business world first you must think globally. You need to be creative, innovative and adhere to the highest standard of business ethics besides marketing quality brands and services to your customers.
In this rapidly changing world, Speed and Change are the names of the game. You need to be resilient, focused and have to take disciplined approach when dealing with your customers in the business world. My success mantra for the young Josephians is, “Persevere until you succeed”.This calls for unwavering commitment and laborious work with dedication and determination.


In conclusion, “Choose your customers, narrow the focus and dominate the market locally and globally. Always believe in your abilities and do your work wholeheartedly in order to succeed in life”.   
The Quiz champions, Nalanda College, Colombo 10, were presented with a trophy. Each member of the winning team received a gold medal. The first runners-up, the team from Vishaka Vidyalaya, Colombo 4, were awarded silver medals. Wesley College Colombo 9, the second runners-up, received bronze medals.


Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi, thanked Mr. Dilush Perera the Director, Finance at Hirdaramani International Exports (Pvt) Ltd, for gracing this occasion as the Chief Guest. He also thanked Rev. Fr. Samesh Anthony, the Priest-in-Charge, for guiding the students and the Teachers of the Commerce Union and Ms.Sriya Perera, the Deputy Principal of the Advance Level section, Mr. Chrishantha Fernando, Head of the Commerce Stream, Advanced Level Section, for inspiring the students and Mr. Upali Ratnayake, the Master-in-Charge and Ms. Nadeesha Nanayakkara and Ms. Ronali Nugera, Assistant Teachers-in-Charge for their efforts and the students, teachers, parents, donors and well-wishers for their co-operation extended to the College, in making this event a great success.
