The 16th National Cyber Security Conference of Sri Lanka will be held on November 12, 2025, at Water’s Edge Hotel, Battaramulla, bringing together national and international experts to address the rising challenges and strategic future of cybersecurity in the country.
The conference, which is being co-organized by the Ministry of Digital Economy and the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (Sri Lanka CERT), is expected to attract more than 400 attendees from academic institutions, government agencies, private sector enterprisers, and international technology organizations.
Held this year under the theme “Building a Trusted and Cyber-Resilient Nation,” the conference aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s digital trust and institutional preparedness in the face of increasing cyber threats affecting governments, businesses, and society. The event focuses on the sub-theme “Shaping Policy, Enabling Practice, and Strengthening National Response Capacity,” underscoring the critical need for collective action and sustainable cybersecurity capacity-building across all sectors. Mr. Waruna Sri Dhanapala, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Economy, will deliver the opening remarks. He will emphasize cybersecurity as a key component of Sri Lanka’s digital transformation and economic competitiveness. The welcome address will be delivered by Mr. Thilak Pathirage, Chairman of Sri Lanka CERT, who will focus on the need of creating a nation that is trustworthy and cyber resilient.
Dr. Kanishka Karunasena, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka CERT, will address the strategic progress of the National Cyber Security Strategy, followed by the keynote speech from Asian Development Bank Country Director Takafumi Kadono, focusing on global trends influencing national cyber defense frameworks.
The conference features a series of expert discussions covering key topics, including cyber governance, critical infrastructure protection, cybersecurity legislation, online safety, and the responsible integration of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cloud platforms, and Quantum computing. Panel discussions will further explore how strong cybersecurity foundations contribute to digital economic growth and institutional resilience.
