The Western Provincial Council has launched the “Salam Ramadan” campaign, running from March 21st to 23rd, with a cultural festival at Green Path, Colombo 7.
This initiative aims to enrich the Ramadan experience by offering a festive atmosphere and promoting understanding of the Holy Month and Sri Lankan Muslim cultural practices. It encourages social cohesion and celebrates the country’s cultural diversity, aligned with the government’s vision for unity.
The event will feature a variety of cultural activities, including food stalls, performances, and interactive sessions that highlight the traditions of Sri Lanka’s Muslim communities—Moors, Memons, Malays and Dawoodi Bohras. Through this campaign, the Western Provincial Council, spearheaded by Governor Hanif Yusoof, aims to strengthen community ties and promote interfaith understanding among all Sri Lankans. The city will be illuminated to create a vibrant ambience and the event is expected to become an annual celebration, promoting cross-cultural understanding and engagement.
