Rishini and Ashanthi honoured at Women Legends 2025

Rishini Weeraratne, Editor of The Sun (Daily Mirror) and Head of Social Media at Wijeya Newspapers Limited, was honoured with the Legendary Woman of the Year 2025 Award for Pioneering Digital Media in Sri Lanka at a ceremony held October 27 at the Monarch Imperial.

Marking a double triumph for Wijeya Newspapers Limited, Ashanthi Waransuriya, Editor of Sirikatha, received the Editor of the Year - Legendary Woman 2025 award. Adding to the evening’s success, Sirikatha was also recognised as the Best Women’s Weekly Newspaper of the Year.

On behalf of Rishini Weeraratne, who currently resides overseas, the award was accepted by Thasmina Sookoor, Deputy Head of Social Media at Wijeya Newspapers Limited.
