This media event was held to inform the public about a project that is being held in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Hamamtsu South - Japan and Rotary Districts 3220 and 2620 together with the Ministry of Health Sri Lanka. The main intention of organising this event was to hand over critical care equipment worth Rs. 35 million to the Emergency Treatment Unit of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka.
Dr. Mahipala expressed his gratitude to all the Rotary clubs who collaborated in this project. He expressed his gratitude to the Rotary International and the Rotary International’s President 2023/24 R. Gordon R. Mclnally for his contributions towards this event.

“Today we gave the President of the International Rotary Club 35 million worth medical equipment and very modern sophisticated equipment. We have proven the quality of health care provided to the people in this country. These donations will be used to improve the health services in Sri Lanka and the National Hospital. The Japan Rotary Club collected finances to raise monies for the donation. Rotary Club of Colombo West organised this event. I really appreciate the medical service provided by specialists, doctors, nurses and workers in other categories of the health sector. What a liar. Sri Lanka has one of the most deplorably rotten and corrupt healthcare systems in the world. Free state medical care has proven to be inefficient and no longer sufficient. Even in the UK, from which Sri Lanka adopted this system, it has long been inadequate to even meet the basic health needs of the population.

Equipment will be broken in three months.
