Chief Guest Dan De Silva

Impressions’24, the annual Art Exhibition organized by the Art Club of S.Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia concluded recently. The exhibition is an annual tradition of the Art Club, aimed at providing students with a platform to express their creativity and explore diverse artistic techniques. It also serves as an opportunity to celebrate the rich artistic heritage of the school and inspire a deeper appreciation for art among students and visitors alike.

“Over 600 paintings were showcased at the exhibition and it is not just a platform for showcasing talent but also an inspiration for younger students to explore their creativity. The Art Club hopes to build on this success and continue providing opportunities for Thomians to express themselves artistically,” said Nipun Baranage, President of the Art Club.

The chief guest for the event was Dan De Silva, an Old Thomian of the 2002 batch. He is an accomplished landscape designer with a wealth of experience in managing prestigious projects both locally and internationally. As the Group Managing Director of four subsidiaries under the Brief Garden umbrella, he has overseen landmark projects such as the US Embassy Compound, Anantara Resorts, and Altair Residencies. His academic background in architecture from Assumption University in Thailand and the University of Technology in Sydney, along with his professional journey under renowned architect Vinod Jayasinghe, adds significant value to his expertise.

As the curtains closed on Impressions ‘24, it left a lasting impression on everyone who attended, reaffirming that art remains an integral part of the Thomian spirit.
