IDM Nations Campus Marks 17th Convocation; Over 750 Graduates Honoured

IDM Nations Campus International held its 17th Convocation Ceremony at the BMICH, recognising more than 750 graduates from the fields of Law, Management, Information Technology, and Teacher Education.

The ceremony commenced with the traditional academic procession led by Eng. (Dr.) Lionel Pinto, President of IDM Nations Campus International. The Convocation Declaration, delivered by Dr Pinto, officially opened the proceedings.

In his welcome address, Dr V. Janagan, Chairman and CEO of IDM Nations Campus International, reflected on the institution’s four-decade contribution to transforming Sri Lanka’s higher education. He emphasised IDM’s focus on innovation, global collaboration, and ethical leadership in preparing students for a rapidly changing world.

Senior Prof. Rohana P. Mahaliyanaarachchi delivered the Convocation Address, urging graduates to uphold compassion, integrity, and a sense of responsibility toward national development.

A key highlight this year was the awarding of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in Law to fourteen scholars, the highest number of doctorates conferred in a single discipline in the institution’s history. The achievement underscores IDM’s expanding role in advanced legal education and research in Sri Lanka.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of Indonesia; Badli Hisham Adam, High Commissioner of Malaysia (represented by Mr Khairul Iskandar Md. Yusof); and representatives from IDM’s international partner universities such as EdHat International (UK), Girne American University (Cyprus), and the University of Delhi (India). Their presence reaffirmed IDM’s growing global partnerships and its commitment to transnational education.

A significant highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Emirates Professor Dayantha S. Wijeyesekara Memorial Scholarship by Ven. (Dr.) Kirinde Assaji, Chief Incumbent of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, to Dr V. Janagan, Chairman of IDM Nations Campus International. The scholarship fund will be distributed among needy students pursuing vocational education, supporting IDM’s commitment to widening access to learning opportunities for all.  For over four decades, IDM Nations Campus International has been a leading force in Sri Lanka’s higher education sector, offering globally recognised qualifications in partnership with prestigious universities and professional bodies across the UK, Australia, South Korea, and other regions. With a mission to empower learners through quality education and innovation, IDM continues to nurture generations of leaders who contribute to local and global progress.
