The 19th instalment of the ‘Gamata Eliyak-Purapathi Mehewara’ (upgrading villages-mayoral mission) programme was launched by the Moratuwa Municipal Council in the Borupana
area recently.
Under this programme, which is a concept of Mayor Samanlal Fernando, shortcomings and major pending issues in a selected area are being rectified
and addressed.
Erection of lamp posts, lawn mowing, renovation of roads, cleaning of drainage systems, fumigation for mosquitoes, administering rabies vaccination and facilitation of income tax payments are some of the tasks which are being carried out under the programme.
Employees of the municipal council backed by Mayor Fernando, councillor Suresh Indika and other council members took part in the programme to provide facilities.
Previously, the programme was held in many areas including Soysapura, Moratu Modara, Kadalana and Egoda Uyana.
