Entries closing on April 10
The Raigam Tele’es Secretariat announced that the 17th episode of Raigam Tele’es, which will evaluate tele-creations telecast over TV channels in Sri Lanka during 2020, will be unspool on July 3, 2021 at the Nelum Pokuna Mahinda Rajapaksa Auditorium in Colombo. The “Nomination Evening” for the declaration and felicitation of nominees recommended for awards will take place on June 4, 2021 at Shangri-la Hotel, Colombo.

Raigam Tele’es has embarked on the trend of acclaiming creations, immediately after the end of the year under review. Despite the impact of pandemic, we successfully concluded the Raigam Teles 2019 - in year 2020 as scheduled, which became the first and only tele / cinema awards ceremony held in the island in the year 2020. This time too, the Raigam Teles 2020, will be held with the least delay in the face of the current situation and also under the new norm, the Secretariat said. Seventeen years ago Raigam Tele-awards Ceremony started as an awards ceremony for the tele-drama industry and later re-branded as Raigam Tele’es to appreciate all sectors of the television media which includes tele-dramas as well as other television programmes such as sports, children’s, political, news, documentary, reality and many other not forgetting technical and individual talents under four main award categories.

Most Popular Awards
An opportunity has been allowed for thousands of television viewers to indicate their most preferred tele-drama, actor and the actress under this category through an SMS poll. Raigam pioneered the use of SMS to select the winners of popular awards. This time too, the general public will get the chance to use SMS to elect their choice of the most popular Actor, Actress, and Tele-drama.
In order to facilitate easy voting an updating viewer with latest news, a mobile app has been launched for Raigam Tele’es. This can be downloaded from Google play store. SMS voting will be opened from June 4 to July 2, 2021. Introducing a new category, Raigam Tele’es this time will honour the most viewed television programmes during the year 2020. Awards have been allocated for the most viewed tele-drama, most viewed television media programme and the most viewed news bulletin under this category. The winners will be selected on published ratings and research based data.

During the past Raigam Tele’es has honoured many senior artistes, technicians and selected personalities who were instrumental in introducing television media in our country.

Raigam Tele’es is the only event in Sri Lanka which uses a clear-cut and a transparent scheme to appreciate the contribution of TV Channels.
This year the Raigam Tele’es “Nomination Evening” will be held on a grander scale on June 4, 2021 at the Shangrila Hotel in Colombo.
The Jury
The Panel of Judges headed by Buddhadasa Galappatti, will comprise Ravindra Guruge, Prof. Ariyarathne Kaluarchchi,. Jayanth Gunawardhena, Gunasiri Silva, Hansamala Ritigahapola, Ranga Dasanayake, Prof. Ajantha Hapuarachchi and Aruna Gunarathne. Well-known media personality B. H. Abdul Hameed will be the special advisor in the Tamil medium.

Entries for Raigam Tele’es 2020 are now accepted by the Raigam Tele’es Secretariat and will be closed on April 10, 2021. Those who are keen to apply are kindly requested to contact Raigam Tele’es Secretariat on 0707 061602/ 0707 061508 immediately.
Creations eligible for Raigam Tele’es 2020 evaluation
Tele-dramas - Local tele-dramas that had telecast the last episode in 2020.
Other creations - Should have been telecast during 2020.
Any production telecast over cable TV or any other paid channel or any dubbed production (other than for best dubbing program) are not eligible for awards.
News Readers and Program Presenters may send their application through their TV channel or independently.
Award winners under News Reader and Programme Presenter are not eligible to re-apply for
the same award in three successive years.
