Referring to the statement issued by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa about the prevailing fuel crisis where the PM had stressed that there was no such crisis, sacked Minister Wimal Weerawansa said it was a foolish statement.

In response to a query posed by a journalist, the former Industries Minister said no one could possibly deny that there is a crisis in the country.

Prime Minister has also stated in the statement that false remarks made by inexperienced politicians, caused panic among people leading to a crisis.

In response, former minister Weerawansa said the prevailing fuel crisis was not due to remarks made in one or two days, it worsened owing to lack of proper planning.

MP Weerawansa also challenged the Government to completely resolve the fuel crisis in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Weerawansa said the main cause for the current catastrophe is the failure in taking pertinent long-term measures at correct time.

"Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa wants crisis to exacerbate in a bid to fulfill the aspirations of West," he added. (Sheain Fernandopulle)

I have never been a fan of you, but I am with you in this instance. Basil is not suitable as FM or for any other portfolio, must be packed off back to his country. BR is the creator of all these problems, as the saying goes blood is thicker than the water. SLPP is committing suicide. Unfortunately SJB is not the right alternative. We are doomed!
