Veteran stage and tele-drama actor Gamini Hettiarachchi passed away at the age of 66 at the Colombo National Hospital this evening, Sri Lanka Singers Association (SLASA) President Keerthi Pasquel said.
He died while receiving treatment, after a kidney transplant surgery. The final rites had not been scheduled yet.
He was educated at Nalanda College, Colombo and whilst at College performed in Ediriweera Sarachchandra's stage drama, Raththaran. Also whilst a pupil at Nalanda, he acted in Dhamma Jagoda's play Vesmuhunu. In 2014 Hettiarachchi appeared as Constable Punyasoma in Kosthapal Punyasoma, a film directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya.
