US Amb. meets President to discuss SL’s economic and political crisis

US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung said that she met with President Ranil Wickremesinghe to discuss how Sri Lanka arrived to this point of economic and political crisis, and how they can work together to navigate towards a brighter future for all.

"Met with President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat today. He takes office at a time when Sri Lanka stands at a crossroads. We discussed how it arrived at this point of economic & political crisis, and how we can work together to navigate toward a brighter future for all," Chung tweeted.

"Our countries and our people have been friends and partners for more than 70 years, relationships that will flourish in a Sri Lanka that embraces good governance, respects human rights, and listens to the aspirations of its people," she said.

Best advice the US can give Sri Lanka is to stop begging for ever to wake up from your slumber and grow your own food. Don't rely on other countries like India and organisations like the IMF for food and financial aid. Nothing seems to have changed since Independence 74 years ago.

Bravo Ms. Julie Chung! President Wickremesinghe is the right man to ask how Sri Lanka arrived at this point of political and economic crisis because he knows first hand how it all happened. The reason I say this is that he is the most decorated leader in this mess that is Sri Lanka - he's been prime minister six times. So, if there be anybody that knows it best, then it is him. And now that you've taken the initiative to nicely warm up his oven, please bake his cake right. If not, he will mess it up again. And we'll be left with his "let them eat cake" crumbs. And greetings too to papa Joe from us people of Sri Lanka. I am not usually impressed with papa, but this time I am.
