UPDATE - One dead, 24 injured from gunshot injuries as protestors and police clash in Rambukkana

One person has died and 24 people were injured from gunshot injuries after protestors and police clashed in Rambukkana this afternoon.

Eight policemen are also injured, police said.

Videos surfacing from the ground showed protestors carrying the wounded and rushing them to the hospital, with one protestor alleging that the police were to blame for it.

Following this, protestors have now surrounded the Rambukkana Police Station and are hurling stones at the building.

Earlier in the afternoon, police had shot tear gas on the protestors to disperse them after they were protesting for 15 hours against the fuel price hike.

The police story does not sound rational explanation at all. No warning shots were heard in clips shown in the social media. In any event why was order not given to shot below the knee. I went through the whole story yesterday and got to know that the protest was only started when the load of Fuel had arrived at the Fuel Station and it was diverted to be unloaded on the following day as because the price increase was done. its initially the wrong decision made to gain more profit where the protesters were waiting in the queue from morning.
