The Balagolla Police have launched an investigation into the abduction and torture of two persons in an inhumane manner for sharing a defamation post against an individual on Facebook.
Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said the two victims, who were friends were brought to the suspect's residence at Balagolla in Pallekele and then abducted them to the Ampitiya area.
The victims claimed that they were nailed to a cross by the suspect along with eight others on June 25.
According to the police, the main suspect was identified as a 30-year-old man named Dushmantha, who runs a devalaya in Ampitiya and another area.
The 44-year-old resident of Polgolla and the 38- year-old resident of Bomiriya, Kaduwela who were injured in the incident are receiving treatment at the Kandy Hospital.
The spokesman said that the main suspect and others are absconding and evading arrest. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
