The Prima Ceylon (Pvt) Limited has decided to revise their increased wheat flour prices, the All Ceylon Bakery Owners’ Association (ACBOA) today said.
ACBOA President N.K. Jayawardene told the Daily Mirror that the price of one kg of Prima wheat flour price was increased by Rs. 12 last Wednesday, but the announcement was made yesterday.
However, with the escalating objections over the increase, a spokesman from the Prima Flour Mills said that they had decided to supply flour to the bakeries at the previous prices.
The maximum retail price of 1 kg of wheat flour is Rs. 87.
"We have already purchased a large stock of wheat flour at the higher price. It will add an additional cost to our bakery products, but there is nothing else we can do about that. The price revision was not affected even yesterday. We hope it will be affected by Monday (6), "Mr. Jayawardene added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
