The National Buildings Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued an early landslide warning (warning level 1,2) to Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts and to the Western Province, considering the heavy rainfall being experienced in these areas.
Disaster Management Centre (DMC) Deputy Director for Early Warning Pradeep Kodippili said Kalutara, Kegalle, Matara and Ratnapura districts have been issued early landslide warnings.
Therefore, the people living in the hilly areas should be vigilant over unusual activities in the ground areas with the receiving of higher rain fall, he said.
Meanwhile, the Irrigation Department said there is a rise in water levels in the Mahaweli river and Kalu ganga. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
