A mobile application that is capable of monitoring vehicles arriving at filling stations for refuelling and exchanging data instantly with other filling stations is currently being tested, Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.
He said this mobile application was developed by the Sri Lanka Police Information Technology Department.
The vehicle's registered number (number plate) of the customer who obtains fuel from filling stations will be included in the relevant application and the data entered will be instantly exchanged with other filling stations used by other applications on the current date, he said.
After entering the number plate of the vehicle, the filling stations will be able to know whether the vehicle has refuelled at another location on the same day and have prior information on refuelling the vehicle, the Minister said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
