The Power and Energy Minister today said that he had lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) activities.
He said the complaints lodged against the activities carried out by the said companies over the proposals made by the individuals.
While posting on Twitter, he said that he requested to investigate fuel procurement, evaluation of proposals, non-placement of orders, selection of suppliers, delays in payments, distribution irregularities, and allegations made by individuals. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

A minister incapable of controlling officials in his own ministry should resign. The complaint to the police to investigate his own officials is a clear admission of his incompetence and the inability to control corruption in his own ministry. This can happen only in Sri Lanka.

We generally hate politicians. But you are a young smart minister take right decisions at right time without fear

Well done, also specify the action you planned to take when you learn the truth. Can you trust the CID? There is a possibility, you can suddenly become super rich.

Ceylon petrolatum cooperation is a cave of the thieves. Thus the financial irregularities as well as other kind corruptions are abundant in this semi government institute. The ministers decision to look in to these corrupted activities is highly appreciated
Parallel management Thursday, 18 August 2022 10:59 PM
Do we assume that there is parallel management functioning in CPC? We always had this doubt when we noticed that CPC is the only petroleum company in the world that makes a loss. Every minister went away, without rocking the boat, but with whatever he gained. Is there a workers mafia?

Kanchana you have done a good job until now, the next step please privatize CPC then for sure it will make profits and the credit will go to you.
Hubert Congreve Friday, 19 August 2022 07:12 AM
CPC is overstaff, highly paid employees earning illegal Overtime than their basic salaries. Better privatize and cut down the staff.
Russel Harmmer Friday, 19 August 2022 07:14 AM
Good move Kanchana, honestly you will have to quick up this action from your end.

Kanchana CPM running at a loss because Mahinda had given jobs for his henchmen from Hambantota whom even not studied upto grade 8, but drawing a handsome salary.

CPC the most corrupted state corporation and the biggest debt burden on the country.

I like this minister who is very firm and energetic. It is the officials occupying big positions who are working against providing a better service to the country by working with opposition political parties and the JVP. Gota was inefficient in controlling them, he only shouted in anger but did nothing to punish anyone. These officials should be subject to full force of the law. Fire them and put them in jail fir 5 to 10 years , confiscate their illegal wealth , fine them, so that others learn lessons.

CID has no capacity to investigate financial irregularities. Should not government audit get involved? CID can take over when illegal activity is found out
