The Cabinet Minister had approved importing of 300,000 liters of liquid medical oxygen weekly which is required to treat Covid-19 patients who are in critical condition.
As the number of oxygen-dependant patients has increased, and therefore, the cabinet ministers have approved importing of 300,000 liters of liquid medical oxygen.
The approval was given at the Cabinet meeting held on May 24, 2021 to import 120,000 liters of oxygen per month to ensure the uninterrupted supply of liquid medical oxygen.
The proposal was tabled by the Health Minister to import 300,000 liters of medical oxygen weekly instead of importing 120,000 liters monthly in order to maintain the adequate stock of oxygen in the country. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
