Govt. agrees to submit documents in Parliament over Ranjan’s release

The government today agreed to submit in Parliament the documents pertaining to the presidential pardon to former MP Ranjan Ramanayake.

Responding to a request made by Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella, Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe told Parliament that he would submit in Parliament the relevant documents.

Mr. Kiriella requested the government to submit the relevant documents pertaining to the presidential amnesty to Mr. Ramanayake saying that they wanted to study it. (Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)

Why does SJB want the documents? When SLPP Sirisena pardon Jude Jayamaha, the murderer no one ask for documents. When military man put in prison for disappearances is pardon no one ask for documents. How can this help Ranjan who is now joined with SJB? Can it get him released from the conditions he was put under not to criticise the judiciary? That is still illegal in with our backward laws, so he won't do it anyway, until law changed. Maybe journalist can see through the murky mess and report through.

If Ranjan agreed to all the terms and conditions pertaining to his release what does SJB have to study in it. Is this a national issue ?They just want to complain about something

Why object to the inspection of the documents. There must be something up, which requires and very important that these documents must be inspected.

This government should focus on the economy of this country and how get this country out of this economic crisis rather than spending it's time on this kind of political revenges.. Even if it is going to submit the so called report who will benefit from it what a waste of time and money ? What is wrong with these people .. The country is burning and yet this political revenge goes on . People should teach them a lesson in next election

Hope the constraints on Ranjan can be overturned by this SJB searching for answers. Ranjan was champion against corruption, and he spoke of what he knew, even if it ended him up in prison. Support any way to find a way, to fully free the man to again to fully take up the action he was renowned for.
