Facilitate safe return of Former President: SLFP requests President

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) today requested President Ranil Wickremesinghe to facilitate safe return of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the country, informed sources said.

The request was made during a meeting between the SLPP led by its National Organizer, former Minister Basil Rajapaksa and the President at the President's office.

Sources said that former Minister Basil Rajapaksa has said that SLPP will provide full support to the President to build the country by solving the current economic crisis.

In addition, he said that former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa should be given space to return to the island safely. Basil Rajapaksa stated that it is the most important request from the government, including the President of the SLPP.

Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, Sagara Kariyawasam, Rohitha Abeygunawardena, Johnston Fernando, Pavitra Vanniarachchi, Namal Rajapaksa and Sanjeeva Edirimanna participated in today’s discussion on behalf of SLPP.

The President's party MP Vajira Abeywardena, Sagala Ratnayake, Ruwan Wijewardena and Shamal Seneviratne too were present at the meeting.

Gota has a very impressive history and does want to tarnish the record. He was AWOL while serving in the army, because he was fascinated with LTTE. In other words deserted job. Was he entitled for any benefit from the Army? Again Gota as a president deserted his job by long distant mail. i.e. He deserted the job and after a number of days he sent in the letter of resignation. This man has a habit of just get up and walk away without performing THE JOB(?). Is it because he does not have the capacity, or what it takes to do the job?

Though he escaped through the dungeon of the Presidents House for fear of his life without anyones knowledge to the Maldives he should be accorded a red carpet welcome in appreciation of what he has done to the country and sent straight to Welikada Prison to spend the rest of his life in jail for his safety from the angry aragalayas.
