If the electricity tariff is not raised this year, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) will lose nearly Rs. 230 billion, Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) Chairman Janaka Ratnayake said.
He said an amended proposal has been submitted by the CEB to increase electricity tariffs.
"The proposals are currently being evaluated by the commission," he said.
However, the PUCSL will take the decision to increase electricity tariffs as soon as the government grants policy guidelines, Ratnayake said. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

If this is necessary please increase the unit prices after 100 units. Then the normal public will not get affected. Only those who are using the more units will gradually reduce their consumption afterwards.
