Retired citizen Former die hard SLPP Monday, 15 August 2022 11:26 PM
What about GR listening to learned Pindeniya then banning Gllycophophate ? Country doesn’t need 2500 professionals to advice the government. It’s hilarious. What country needs is all appointments including ministers appointed on honesty, attitude, skills and capability, efficiency and productivity. We don’t see that happening., look at shipping minister making decisions on the run without proper analysis, also known for sleeping during business. Country needs young blood not old sleeping farts. Look at energy minister doing an excellent job. Moreover all politicians yet targeting next election and deceiving people. Rajapakses are a spent force now, get rid of Basil altogether, Sajith is a joke so is ayyo sirisena. RW should take tough decisions by not giving into SLPP, Basil or any other jokers not fit to govern! Anura K only talks, all fart no shit man. Select ministers from all parties fits into aforesaid criterion! We will be laughing!!

You are wrong, we need more consultants than 2500 and all these rascals should be chosen from the "hench-aiya" base of politicians. Only then will they productively provide usefulness towards the Public Finances... oops sorry it should read Public Development of the country. Further please realize we buffaloes elect to Parliament are also buffaloes who require other buffaloes surrounding them to show those buffaloescitizens who voted they are working towards a resplendent nation.

What for the educated specialists in different fields for advice? Prez got his inner circle to receive "No Advice" but help them with a wage and perks from the public purse

Is it the same as Gota proposed at the beginning. Then cheated those professionals and stole their views through proposals.

Sri lanka needs 25000 advices because there is a saying " too many cooks may may make a tasty soup"

Academics without any practical experience are a useless lot. What we need are leaders, people who are able change public opinion with good attitudes and leadership skills.
All purpose academic Tuesday, 16 August 2022 11:11 AM
You all are trying to market yourselves! Right? We had Great Brain G.L. who will spend 30 minutes to explain why Green chilly is green. We also had the Poojaneeya, Wandaneeya Agnanasara, with instant relief for every thing. The nation was ruined. Do you have anyone better than them? Then speak!

Plain advisors are not the solution. Small committees (big ones have too many views) say about six to eight, for each field like agriculture and education. Two academics, two proven administrators and two proven entrepreneurs in each field to cover all aspects, plus Minister and Ministry Secretary.

Why not you consider the GR's Viyath maga expert Jayantha de Silva who is Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Technology and also holding Chairman of TRC and Director General posts of Telecommunications Regulatory Commission who tested the composition of LP gas in mid seas
Ben Beneragama Tuesday, 16 August 2022 12:46 PM
In accordance with section 5 of the Telecommunications Act (as Amended) Act 27 of 1996, appoint a person for the Director General of Telecom Regulatory Commission who is well conversed in sectors such as the Technology, Media, and Communications (TMC) sectors, in particular to Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) of Sri Lanka. The appointment as a member of Board of Directors, must be Economist and a Lawyer and not not GR's Viyyathmaga professionals
Youth livelier than academic Tuesday, 16 August 2022 12:50 PM
Academics are no use when government intent on any means to suppress more protest. The academic take position benefits and safe their skin by going along with everything government says. Speak against the use of military because trying to get academic into government position for double salary just waste more money.

Country need only intelligent and practical people. Get rid of the Rouges and Looters, People must do 8 hours of loyal, dedicated, and honest work. Do these basics 1st . Too many Cooks will spoil the soup.

Prof. Charitable Herath was doing an honest job at COPE but see now he cannot continue. The name proposed to succeed him Mr.Eran W. too is great and hope it is not temporary. We find only few who are honest and committed .Most are rogues who are a liability in the Parliament and they enjoy immunity from all wrong doings.

The problem in SL is that even so called professionals are highly unprofessional and the academics are really lacking in experience and aren't aware of world class standards. And all the above tend to be sycophants by nature, always trying the please those in power. You can see educated people bending over to politicians all the time. It is a national embarrassment. If you want to consult professionals and academics, you should consult people working in developed countries. They know the best practices at international level.

Karu Jayasuriya has no Political Business in Sri Lanka, because, Karu Jayasuriya had been rejected by the people' voting mandate. So, whyn should Karu Jayasuriyaa try to involve in the matter he never knows?

It is a big joke and meant to hoodwink the people. It is easy to hand pick few best from their achievements, age and the family. No need to invent the wheel as we can use Singapore model in selecting people.
True democratic Wednesday, 17 August 2022 02:24 AM
Very good point Jamis. I would say most professionals (not all) are selfish, means for them not the job or country first but them first. They use their positions only for their gains, then they oblige wrongdoing politicians as the got no choice as they themselves are in a spot of bother. If RW is serious in uprighting the pathetic situation, he should first crack the whip from ministers, MPs downward, not the other way. RW must never give into to SLPP or anyone else when doing the right thing. Basil is a pest, pass 22nd amendment without delay. Show the door to any minister , MP or public servant not performing.
