Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that the Ministry has observed that 2100 plus businesses have installed their own fuel storage tanks as consumer points, many without approval.
Accordingly, he said that the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) will not distribute to businesses that have no approvals and do not comply with guidelines.
However, distribution to the 1250 plus fuel stations will be prioritized.
Meanwhile, he said that upon evaluating consumer points, the CPC will continue distribution of essential consumer points.
"Export businesses will be required to pay in US$. Businesses can also make arrangements to fulfil their requirements from bunker suppliers," the Minister said.
Nevertheless, petrol will not be delivered to businesses, he reiterated. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Give Diesel to Export companies
Why US dollar accepted for payments Thursday, 25 August 2022 07:34 PM
What is this? Export business must pay in US dollars. When did we start having US dollar as a currency for some? Might as well allow for any currency that works, and start doing barter as well.

This is not a big deal. The two wheat flour companies give priority to the large users who pay in dollars, hence high cost of biscuits and other food items.

what is not mentioned here is that when business pay in dollars to purchase fuel from CPC, they ask for payment for a a minimum of 2 loads and release only one load and keep the payment for the 2nd load as a "deposit" which is not mentioned anywhere in the invoice or agreement. If one insists that the 2nd load also be delivered, then CPC says they will close our account and we will not be able to buy fuel from CPC anymore

the sooner they privatize the CPC the better for this countries economy
Give priority for lcoal not exporters Friday, 26 August 2022 10:47 AM
Exporters then getting diesel causes harm for general public travel when there is not enough diesel for local businesses. And giving priority to exporters means no fuel for private buses either
