Elderly man dies in elephant attack

Serunuwara, June 12 (Daily Mirror) - A 72-year-old man was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in the Sumedhankara area within the Serunuwara Police Division yesterday (11).

Police said the victim, a resident of Seruwila, sustained serious injuries in the attack and was admitted to the Serunuwara Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to investigations, the man had been travelling on a road near his residence when he was attacked by the wild elephant.

The Serunuwara Police launched an investigation following information received regarding the incident. Further inquiries are continuing.
