Australian Governor-General Samantha Mostyn arrives

Governor-General of Australia Samantha Joy Mostyn arrived in Sri Lanka this afternoon for a three-day official visit, following an invitation extended by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

She was welcomed at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath, along with other senior officials.

During her visit, Governor-General Mostyn is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with President Dissanayake and Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. Talks are expected to focus on strengthening Australia–Sri Lanka relations and exploring new areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

The Governor-General is also set to visit several locations across the country, including Bandaragama, Mirissa, and Weligama, to observe development projects supported by the Australian Government.

This high-level visit comes after recent engagements between the two countries, including a visit to Sri Lanka by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles, and a meeting between Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong and Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath in Malaysia.
