Nuwanidu fights back after Jurel’s Century puts India A on top

June.26 (Mirror Sports) - Captain Dhruv Jurel's unbeaten 141 powered India A to a commanding 452 for 6 declared before the visitors struck twice to leave Sri Lanka A on 113 for 2 at stumps on a rain-hit second day of the first unofficial Test in Galle.

Only 57.4 overs were possible due to frequent rain interruptions, but Jurel built on his overnight score to register a superb century. He shared an 86-run sixth-wicket partnership with Harsh Dubey (30), while Chamika Gunasekara claimed 3 for 84 for Sri Lanka A.

Sri Lanka A lost Niroshan Dickwella and Pawantha Weerasinghe early to slump to 38 for 2 before Nuwanidu Fernando led the fightback with an unbeaten 65. Ashen Bandara remained not out on 18 as the pair added an unbroken 75-run partnership, reducing the deficit to 339 runs heading into day three.
