Two persons who were involved in a burglary at the private residence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe on July 9, 2022, were handed down rigorous imprisonments yesterday.
In one case, the Mount Lavinia Magistrate convicted a person who removed a replica of a sailboat concealed in a bottle inside the house on that day to six months rigorous imprisonment suspended for five years. He was charged under the Penal Code.
Also, another person who stole a replica of a conch shell made of steel was charged under the provisions of the Penal Code and sentenced to one-year rigorous imprisonment suspended for five years.
