Three organised Sri Lankan criminals arrested in Dubai, brought amid tight security



  • They had been wanted in connection with murders, drug trafficking, extortion and robbery
  • The two underworld gangsters were referred, one of them to Elpitiya Division Crime Investigation Unit and the other to Western Province (North) Peliyagoda Division Crime Investigation Unit.

A woman wanted in connection with a fraud and two underworld gangsters arrested in Dubai by a team of Sri Lankan police officers were flown to the Bandaranaike International Airport in the early hours of last morning under tight security.  The suspects Raveen Chaminda Weerasinha (52) alias “Puncha”, a resident of Uragaha in Elpitiya and Kirieldeniye Don Rasika Sanjeewa Kumara (30) of Kandana had been wanted in connection with murders, drug trafficking, extortion and robbery.  The other suspect Hewa Kasakarage Rupa Nishamani De Silva (56) of Ratmalana, had been wanted in connection with a fraud. The suspects had been hiding in Dubai. 

The two underworld gangsters were referred, one of them to Elpitiya Division Crime Investigation Unit and the other to Western Province (North) Peliyagoda Division Crime Investigation Unit. 

The suspect woman was handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters.
