Three arrested for burning alive an elephant

Police arrested three suspects involved in burning alive an injured elephant at Ambagahawela in Mihintatle.   

The suspects between 43 and 50 years of age were residents of the area.   

They are alleged to have caused serious injuries with burning torches that resulted in the death of the wild elephant that had already received gunshot inquiries in a fore limb and was not able to move about.   

A video of the scene had gone viral on social media and a police team under OIC Mihintale Police CI S. Chandrasiri Ranjith conducted investigations and arrested the three suspects.   

The suspects were to be produced in court last morning.
