Fresh controversy has emerged over the 2012 death of former rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, as several politcians and the family members of a slain underworld leader, continue to make conflicting statements.

A 16-year-old boy claiming to be the son of slain underworld figure Anura Vidanagamage alias “Middeniya Kajja’ has denied his father’s involvement in the incident, contradicting allegations that Kajja was present in a vehicle trailing Thajudeen shortly before his death.

SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa has urged the government to carry out an impartial and comprehensive investigation without turning the case into a political slogan, warning that failing to do so would be an insult to Thajudeen’s memory.
